To the library

Hi there,

So today I did a couple of things. I went to the job centre where I had to sign on to be given some money to live. That was really fun and I always enjoy it. I am half being sarcastic there and half truthful. It does get me out of the house and it gets me money but I would prefer to have a job.

I also went to the library. Nw, the library near me is kind of a mish mash. They have put everything together, books, government stuff and general nonsense. It’s all full of nothing really. I mean the library has hardly any books in it so is quite rubbish but it did have the book I wanted. I got “On Writing by Stephen King”. It is apparently one of those books that you must read so that is what I am going to do, read it.

I also did my radio show training at the hospital. It was fun but it went so quickly. I’m hoping I’ll get my own show soon so then I’ll be able to play with it.

After that, I went for a drink with the bloke I do the show with. He is nice enough, much older than me but friendly. I think it is nice to work with someone who is easy to work with, it makes a difference.

That is about all I did today. A nice short piece before I run off to play WoW!

I’m a job centre frequenter also. They sold me this info whilst I was at university that with a degree the job offers in my field will be simple to get… Half a year down the line and I’m still searching. That and our wonderful Gov’t slashing the UK Film Council didn’t help. I know how that feels I’d love a job. I’ve even applied for volunteer work also. But didn’t get that – just hang in there

      Hiya,

I’m sorry to hear that you are part of the job centre gang. It’s pretty sucky really but at least it’s some kind of help. I know a lot of people who I went to uni with, they finished with all this hope only to find a job that either wanted qualifications lower than a degree or generally didn’t find work at all. I am hoping that it will work out and if not, I can hopefully win over the millions of readers and become a best seller instead πŸ™‚

  2. What’s a bloke? Following all these different blogs I see alot of words and references I don’t know….. it’s very interesting. Most times I can figure it out, but not a bloke.

‘Bloke’ just means man. I thought it was only really common in Australia, but I guess it’s used in England as well if the author used it.

        Hi to both of you,

Debbie, Beau is right, a bloke means man/guy/fellow/gentleman. Those can be some of the translations anyway. I tend to write as I speak and will use certain words that probably nobody has heard of so I am glad you asked.

Beau, thank you for explaining and thank you for visiting.

The radio show sounds interesting – what would you be doing?

    • paulasstory says:

      Hiya,

Well, I’m not too sure. It is in a hospital and the radio controller wants it to be a bit of everything. Some for the oldies, some for the middle and some for the young. I would and do at the moment, play a bit of 80’s and some country because that is what I know. I play some recent stuff too but it all seems a bit upbeat for people lying in bed for whatever reason. I really need to focus on one genre but also mix everything in.

Please let us know what you think of On Writing. I read it not long ago and absolutely loved it πŸ™‚

      Hiya,

Well, so far I have only read up to page 19 but it seems funny and interesting and everything in-between. He is a great writer so it is great to get to see inside his mind.

      Hiya,

Yeah, I have seen people mention that book so many times that I just had enough and wanted to read it myself to see if it really is as good as everyone says. I shall let you know how it goes, I have great hopes for it.
